The Bierbower family of Maysville, Kentucky, used their home to assist freedom seekers, providing shelter and aiding in crossings of the Ohio River on their journey to freedom.
Today, the Bierbower House serves as the home of the National Underground Railroad Museum.
As part of ongoing historical research, the museum has compiled a genealogical record of the Bierbower family. This family tree traces the lineage of the family across multiple generations and provides important historical context for the individuals connected to the house and the surrounding community.
The Bierbower family tree is available for public review. We invite researchers, descendants, and interested visitors to explore the genealogy and contribute additional information, corrections, or historical documentation.
Visitors may access the Bierbower family tree through FamilySearch, where the research continues to grow and be refined over time.
Through oral histories, remembered voices, and shared accounts, history is down through the generations. These stories continue to speak. Here, they are preserved, respected, and heard.
